Siding and Roof Hail Damage and RestorationHail Damage

April 2015 we were called out to several homes in the Raleigh, Zebulon, Garner, Wake Forest, and Franklinton North Carolina area for hail damage. The hail damaged several homes. The hail storm was in and out in just a few minutes but the huge balls of ice had done extensive damage to many homes and vehicles.

Hail damage which we repair on homes includes roofing, gutters, roof shingles, windows, doors, and siding.

An example of what hail can do to siding is here in this post. Take a look at that picture and imagine an entire home being pummeled with ice.

If you have experienced hail damage in central North Carolina that will require an insurance claim give us a call. As licensed North Carolina contractors and certified restoration professionals, we are equipped to handle all types of jobs from ice damage to flood and fire damage.

Kitchen Flooding Water Damage and Restoration in Cary, Raleigh, and Durham

Kitchen flooding occurs most often when an appliance goes bad, or a pipe breaks in a kitchen wall.

If you have water damage in your home feel free to call us today. We are not just water damage and restoration experts, we are also North Carolina State licensed contractors native to the area who have done everything from mold remediation to complete home builds. If you are experiencing flood damage feel free to call our emergency hotline or visit our comprehensive page explaining flood damage and restoration.

Appliances that break in the kitchen

The most common problem that creates water damage in the kitchen is the dishwasher. In fact, we have a page dedicated to dishwasher flooding. The most common problem we see is a burst line which feeds water to the dishwasher. If this line breaks while you’re at work, you could come home to hundreds of gallons of water flooding your kitchen. Not fun.

Burst pipes in the kitchen

Of course, there are also pipes in the walls of your kitchen which feed water to your kitchen sink. We recently restored a home in Pittsboro with a burst pipe in the kitchen wall. In this particular case, the water damage was in the living area as well.

Areas we service

We are based in Cary and we also service Raleigh, Durham, Holly Springs, and all surrounding areas.

Turkey Frying Tips to Avoid Fires and Injuries

Here in North Carolina, we love frying everything, including turkeys. Unfortunately, sometimes this leads to fire damage and even injury.

If you have a home damaged by fire please see our fire damage restoration service.

Grease Fires

Grease fires result in all types of injuries. We covered a few tips recently, including how to extinguish a grease fire and fire extinguisher safety tips. Improper handling of hot grease can result in a “flame burn”. Flame burns are from fires and are almost always full thickness or deep dermal burns.  If clothing or bedding is involved, the burns tend to be deeper and involve the full thickness of the skin or worse (reference).

This is what a turkey grease fire looks like:

Basic turkey frying tips

Follow these tips at your own risk. We will not be held liable for anything in this article or any turkey frying injuries! These are just basic common sense statements, nothing more.

  • Keep children and pets FAR away from the fryer
  • Do not let the oil temp exceed 350
  • Read and follow your fryer’s instructions
  • Make sure the turkey is DRY before it goes into the fryer
  • After frying is complete, let the oil cool on its own (do not add ice)
  • Only fry outdoors

Fire Damage from Turkey Frying

Fire damages siding and can even burn a home to the ground. The fire departments in Raleigh are always busy on Thanksgiving.

Water Damage and Flooding from Sewer Backups sewer backup

Sewage backups stink. In addition, they sometimes create costly water damage. If the sewage is coming from a public sewage line there are major health concerns as well.

If you are experiencing flooding from a sewer backup give us a call. We are a locally owned and operated water damage and restoration company located in Cary North Carolina.

What is a sewer backup?

Sewer backups are defined slightly differently by different people. To some people, it is sewage backing up into the toilet is what they call a sewer backup. These minor issues can be solved by a plumber and their rooter services.

Water damage and restoration companies define them a bit differently; in this case, we are talking about sewer backups which have overflowed, flooded, and caused water damage. Please see our comprehensive page on water damage here: water damage and restoration.

What causes a sewer backup?

  • Blockages. Hair. Tree roots. You name it, we’ve seen it. When a sewer line gets blocked, any new water coming in is going to come right back out the path of least resistance.
  • Broken pipes. Collapsed and broken pipes can also lead to sewer backups.
  • Main sewer line problem. These are the most dangerous because it contains public sewage.
